Agentic Awesome Skills: 2,926 skills your agent picks from

Out of 2,926 skills, your agent picks the ones your project needs and saves them as aas-stack.json

The agent sweeps 2,926 skills with search_skills, puts the IDs it picks in aas-stack.json, and previews the install with --dry-run.

Who
A community project led by sickn33, gathering SKILL.md files from many authors for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Gemini CLI users.
When
The repository opened on January 14, 2026; the latest release is v20.6.0, from November 5, 2026.
Where
Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Kiro, OpenCode and more. Skill search runs on a local catalog on your machine.

What was hard

Grab a whole skill library and hundreds of skills you will never use ride along with your agent. The README itself warns that Antigravity's watched skill folder can overload its context. Yet opening 2,926 skills one by one to choose was never realistic.

What it does about it

The agent does the choosing; the tooling does the recording and checking. Through MCP the agent searches the catalog on your machine, reads the full skills, and saves only the IDs it picked in aas-stack.json. Core does not rank or recommend anything; it only checks that those IDs exist. The installer shows a --dry-run of what comes in and goes out before it writes a folder.

At a WordCamp Kathmandu 2026 workshop, one LinkedIn profile PDF went through the library's linkedin-profile-optimizer and then cv-generator skills: a profile audit, then an ATS-ready CV.

produces an ATS-ready CV instead: one PDF, a different skill, a different result.

Installed debugging and security skills with the npx installer and ran code-review and security-audit on a custom WordPress plugin to get a vulnerability report and fix suggestions.

Applied the code-review and security-audit playbooks against a custom WordPress plugin to automatically generate a vulnerability report and fix suggestions.

Built an Open VSX extension to browse, search and preview this repository's skills inside the editor, filter by agent and copy install commands.

I built a dedicated extension for the Open VSX Registry that allows developers to browse, search, and preview the 1,900+ agentic skills from this repository directly within their editor.

How it runs inside

  1. 1

You → Claude Code / Codex

Pick the skills this project needsYou paste the guide's request; the agent inspects the project and splits it into capability areas.docs/users/claude-code-skills.md
  2. 2

    Claude Code / Codex → aas-mcp

search_skills · get_skill · read_skill_fileIt finds matching skills in the local catalog, unranked, and reads candidates' files without running them.tools/lib/aas-v1/mcp/server.js
  3. 3

    aas-mcp → Claude Code / Codex

compose_stack → manifestIt only checks that the chosen IDs exist in the catalog (up to 128) and returns them unchanged as an in-memory manifest.tools/lib/aas-v1/mcp/server.js
  4. 4

    You → aas CLI

aas stack validate · aas stack planIt checks the saved aas-stack.json and writes only an aas-plan.json preview; skill folders stay as they are.tools/lib/aas-v1/stack/plan.js
  5. 5

    You → Direct skill installer

--skills brainstorming,... --dry-runIt shallow-clones the release tag, checks out only skills/, and lists what would be installed, updated or removed.tools/bin/install.js
  6. 6

Direct skill installer → .agents/skills folder

Chosen skill folders + install recordWithout --dry-run it copies the chosen SKILL.md folders and records them, so the next update knows what to remove.tools/bin/install.js

What goes in, what comes out

LinkedIn profile PDF + linkedin-profile-optimizerA consistent audit and a rewritten profile
The same PDF + cv-generatorAn ATS-ready CV
A WordPress plugin + code-review and security-auditA vulnerability report with fix suggestions
Use brainstorming to plan a featureA design refined one question at a time, before any code

Is it for you

Good for

  • You want to try skills but don't know which to install first
  • You use Claude Code, Codex and Cursor and want the same skills in each
  • A team that wants its skill list in a file it can review
  • You want to see what gets installed and removed before it happens

Not for

  • Per the README, Core does not recommend or rank skills; passing validation says nothing about fit or safety for your project.
  • Core's apply and recovery steps are still experimental.
  • The v20.6.0 release notes say it is not on npm; as of 2026-11-06 npm's latest is 18.8.0, so README commands pinned to 20.6.0 may fail until then.
  • Each skill has its own source and license, and some need a paid hosted service or API to work.
